Gary O. Phillips, MBA, CPA, CVA

Gary has extensive experience in venture and corporate finance, business valuations, high net worth individual, corporate and partnership taxation and strategic planning.   Gary has worked with companies in a wide range of industries including technology, manufacturing, real estate, retail, construction, and professional service firms.

Gary provides forensic and fraud accounting services, litigation support, expert witness services in tax and accounting matters, and tax negotiation and resolution. In addition to being a CPA, Gary is a Certified Valuation Analyst and performs business valuations for a variety of purposes including structuring of management buyout and management transition programs, stock option plans, and Employee Stock Ownership Plans. Gary earned a B.A. in Business Administration and an M.B.A. from Humboldt State University. For 12 years, Gary served as a San Rafael city councilman and as an elected school board trustee.  Currently, Gary sits on executive boards of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, non-profit organizations, and on advisory boards of a bank and Golden Gate University.

Darren J. Bradley, CA

Member, DZH Phillips Consulting Group

Darren is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years experience in public accounting in both Australia and California, with a concentration in management consulting services.  Darren has assisted small to medium sized businesses with growth management, capital budgeting, financing, valuation services, decision modeling and design, and implementation of management reporting systems.  Recent experience includes liquidation workouts and management, business reorganizations, due diligence, merger and acquisition assistance, and Chief Financial Officer services.   Darren has worked directly with large pension funds as a Chief Financial Officer overseeing a number of investment entities. Darren industry experience includes advertising, real estate development, service businesses and restaurants.  After receiving his Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting and sub major in Finance, Darren received his Gradate Diploma in Chartered Accounting.

Danny M. Heller, CPA, CVA

As lead specialist in Exit Planning and Transactions, Dan develops and executes a variety of client-tailored programs including exit strategies, target identification, feasibility studies, due-diligence reporting, and negotiations. He works with clients to meet third-party reporting requirements, investor relations, and internal management needs.  As a result of his relationship with clients, Dan has helped clients in improving their profit margins by analyzing pricing policies, developing internal control systems, implementing cost studies, increasing market share by maximizing shelf space, researching industry-specific depreciation allowances, and designing management reporting practices.  Dan graduated from the University of Colorado and has pursued graduate studies in taxation at Golden Gate University.

Ryan M. Svoboda, MS, CPA, CVA

Ryan is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and appraises operating businesses, family limited partnerships, and family limited liability companies for a variety of purposes including estate & gift taxation, ESOP’s, business liquidations, and mergers & acquisitions.  Ryan structures transactions involving real estate issues, partnership tax issues, business sales, purchases, and reorganizations. He works with clients in an advisory capacity on financial, tax, accounting, and strategic issues on an ongoing basis. Ryan earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon with a major in Accounting and a minor in Economics. To compliment his Bachelors degree, Ryan has a Master’s of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University.

Bob Daoro, MBA, CPA, MS

As a professional with more than thirty years in public accounting, Bob provides management consulting and advisory assistance to middle-market companies, including forecasting, budgeting, business plan preparation and execution, strategic planning, and corporate tax planning.  Bob’s industry experience includes real estate and investment partnerships, law firms, maritime companies and professional-service companies. Bob graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Accounting, received his MBA from Santa Clara University and a Master’s of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University.

Timothy G. Doss

Tim has been actively involved in property tax management and consulting for the over twenty-five years. Tim has special experience in complex tax situations, including possessory interest valuation cases, property tax management enhancement, administration and dispute resolution. Tim is a graduate of UC Berkeley and has completed postgraduate studies in strategic management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Robert E. George, MBA

Bob provides high level structuring and strategy advice to Boards of Directors and Chief Executive Officers relating to Business Models. He helps define what success means to each client, the factors that lead to it and how to incorporate those into an optimal Business Model.  Bob spent nearly twenty years analyzing institutional business models relating to the creation of partnerships and joint ventures in the financial services industry. Bob graduated from Oregon State University and the Harvard Business School.

Dave Irvine

Dave brings nearly 20 years of Information Technology industry experience to his role as IT consultant. His credentials include certified expertise on Sun, Microsoft, VMWARE and Pillar Data systems.  Dave provides IT outsourcing, organization development, mergers and acquisition consulting, and both IT and business strategic planning efforts.  Dave works with clients to develop, implement, and manage innovative infrastructure solutions that increase productivity while reducing costs including network, desktop, server, database, internet, email, firewall, file services, print, fax, remote access, Citrix, VMware, monitoring.  Dave graduated from University of Michigan.

Paul S. Finkle, CMC, SPHR

Paul has served as a senior advisor to thousands of entrepreneurial employers. Paul has a deep background labor relations and is frequently called upon as an expert witness in complex employment litigation.  For 10 years, Paul lectured at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and has served on the small business committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is currently Chair of the Advisory Committee of the UCSF Institute for Global Health and serves on several client boards. Paul holds certifications as Senior Professional in Human Resources and is a Certified Management Consultant. Paul graduated with degrees in economics and psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Robert J. Cappelloni, MBA, CPA

Bob has held several senior positions in finance, general management and operations, including CFO, CEO, and COO.  Bob specializes in developing and implementing business strategies for middle market companies including reorganization of domestic and international operations, expansion of lines of service, sale of domestic and international investments, and review, maintenance and renewal of all business contracts and relationships.  His international experience includes evaluation of domestic and international lines of business and expansion of sales territories into Europe and Asia.  Bob graduated from Stanford University and received his MBA from University of California, Berkeley.
